See if you can fly into Sydney and fly out of Brisbane or Coolangatta at the end of your trip. Hire a car in Sydney and drive up the coast to southern QLD, make sure you stop in at Byron Bay! You could spread 9 days out along that trip nicely, have city, beach and bush experience, great weather and heaps to do along the way. You can find all sorts of accommodation along the way, the towns will have everything from backpacker hostels to 5 star resorts.

In late November it will be quite warm in either Sydney or Melbourne but for reliable weather I’d probably choose Sydney.

You could either stay at a resort in Sydney or on the NSW Central Coast.

I’ve posted a website that might help you.
There are links on the left of the web page and tabs at the top for further info.

Edit: Late November is not a good time to go to the Gold Coast on the southern coast of Queensland. That’s when the “Schoolies” take over.
It’s when the kids who have just graduated from High School (Year 12) go for a break it’s the time for partying. Thousands of them from all over Australia head for the Gold Coast. They also go to Byron Bay N.S.W. and other places on the coast.
Any other time is good for visiting the Gold Coast.
For more info on “Schoolies” dates and destinations etc google Schoolies destinations Australia.
Then you can plan around it.
