Yes it’s possible, it’s about two days in each country but more likely a day in Austria and a day in Hungary, and three days in Italy, France and Spain.

Try reading “Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe” by Bill Bryson, who did the same sort of thing, though it is a funny book about his experiences, there are some real good points and some “I didn’t know that” occurrences.

. .Yes indeed.Buy a Eu rail Pass. This is quite expensive but you travel throughout Europe first class.Best to travel North to South as generally in Europe the North is more expensive than the South.l’d start in France. So fly there and spend some time. Then use your Eu rail Pass to leave.Your pass begins on that date (leaving France) as that’s when you’ll first use it.Travel East and North.Finish in either Italy or Spain.Your pass expires at Midnight on the 15th day after opening,However if the train to Spain or Italy leaves before Midnight on that 15th day the pass is valid for travel irrespective of arrival time at destination. You must book your travel as all the seats are reserved. This is easily done at the rail station you are leaving from. When you buy your pass you’ll be supplied by pretty comprehensive maps. So fly to France and your return home should be via Rome/Lisbon.
