I’d try to knock off as many of these places as possible:

Now THAT would be a fun trip!

I like amusement parks… Here’s a list of the best ones on the east coast
    OH- cedar point, kings island
    PA- Hershey Park
    NJ- Six Flags
    VA- Busch gardens, Kings dominion
    NC- Carowinds
    SC- Freestyle Music Park
GA- Six Flags over GA, Wild Adventures
FL- Busch Gardens, Sea World, Disney, Universal, etc…

You could do 1/2 or whole day at any of these places except Cedar Point– you need at least a day n a half

This is a very big country, so you have to be selective. What’s best depends on your interests. Here’s one set of possibilities:

We’ve been in nearly every US state. Here are some of our favorites:
    1) The Grand Canyon. You can do this in one day. Stay at any decent motel in Boulder City.
    2) Las Vegas. Stay at a hotel on the strip. Allow two days, and see the best shows available.
3)Niagra Falls. These are best from the Canadian side, and you can stay there, too. The tourist attractions there, and the little businesses, are interesting.
    4) Cape Cod. We like the Captain Farris B&B there. Allow one day, two nights.
    5) Kansas City. Stay in a Johnson County motel. Visit the Country Club Plaza for shopping, dining, nightclubs. Enjoy great BBQ and all the usual urban fun things. Allow a day and a night, at least.

Uh … yeah … the US is big, Texas, NY, Cali would all be road trips by themselves. You can see
    - Niagara Falls in a day
    - Las Vegas minimum 2 days … or spend a week if you like to gamble or see top rated shows, stay on the strip, take taxis unless you like to walk … ALOT
    - Grand Canyon can be done in two minutes or two weeks. or you can fly in a helicopter on a day trip from vegas.
    - California National Redwood forest and Napa Valley Wineries… this is a two for one day deal, start early and see both in one day. Some Wineries close @5pm to6pm
    - NYC – as much as you like, simple one or two day tour if you just want a good look at the city. you now have to book the Statue of liberty days or weeks in advance.
    - Gettysburgh, PA – 1-2day visit historical civil war if you like that kind of stuff, then shoot over to the amish country for an extra day.
    - I could go on and on … Maine, NH, VT… 10,000 places in NY state alone to visit in a single day each, corning glass museum and factory, watkins glen, NYC, Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame, Letchworth State park, Taughannock Falls State Park, Niagara Falls, 5 Finger Lakes, 1000 Islands, Soccer hall of fame, Womens Historical Museum, Saratoga Raceway and Hall of Fame, Fort Niagara, Albany State Capitol, West Point, Vanderbuilt Mansion, Roosevelt Mainsion and Library…. etc ( my fingers are getting tired )
