Most tourists know of the Caribbean. Check what ‘Island’ has to say about a particular island on this link.

Grand Cayman is a great island. it is very nice and has great beaches. it is abot 150 miles south of Cuba. there is this place called stingray city. it is a sandbar that is bout 4 feet deep where there are wild stingrays that have become used to humans and are now very tame. you get to swim with them and pet them and feed them. it was the most amazing thing i have ever done in my entire life.
i don’t know what the light life is like. everyone there is very nice and it is a beautiful island most people don’t know about.
you should buy a book about the islands of the carribean. 2 good books are by frommers and the other is by foder. you look them up on the internet and almost every library has them.
have fun

I’m a big fan of St Martin/Sint Maarten, half French/half Dutch but all friendly, and most of the tourists are cruise ship crowds – so if you avoid Philipsburg on the Dutch side (where the cruise ships dock) during the day, it’s not so bad on the tourist part!
You get an awesome blend of Caribbean/European foods (some really taste combinations); and in Philipsburg at night there’s flashy casinos and party bars – and the smaller cities have a lot of fun nightlife too. Oh, and the beaches are GORGEOUS. (At least one is nude!)

I would take a look at Curacao. It is a part of the Netherlands, but is located in the Caribbean. They speak Dutch, English and Papiamento. There are casinos, clubs, and tons of places to hang in Willemstad. Diving is great there and it is a chilled out place. It isn’t a well-known destination for travel from the USA. I would take a look at Breezes Curacao. It is an all inclusive resort with a ton of activities and an on-site casino. Breezes has a climbing wall, water sports, swim-up bar, etc

A good place, is Roatan, great place to stay and scuba dive among other things like going on the zip line, not to many tourists, for a less tourist feel you can rent a house, I suggest http://www.roatancasamariposa.com.
