Site below works great. just click on the blue “Find Directions” and fill in the starting city and ending city. You will also need a Mexican car permit and car ins. See 2nd site. Would be best to have a Mexican road atlas too….the Guia Roji…can buy at large bookstores or order on Amazon.com. If you don’t know what city you want to go to , you could try Monterrey…only 3 hrs south of the border. see 3rd site. Would be a good idea to have a friend who speaks Spanish and has experience driving in Mexico. Monterrey is a huge city with very challenging traffic.

You have some good answers so I belabor the point.
Driving in Mexico is something else, however.
Watch out for the topes…those raised portions of highway when entering a small town or city or even in the city. They can knock you suspension whacko if hit too hard. Slow way down!
Do speed limits. ALTON means stop in Spanish but on a street sign it’s usually look both ways and coast through the intersection. Be careful of intersections.
They’ll pump your gas for you at the Pemex stations so be sure they reset the pump dials to ZERO before they start pumping gas. Otherwise you pay for your gas and the last customers gas.
Stay on the Toll Roads whenever possible. Safer and more secure than the Free Roads.
You’ll need a visa, car insurance and will have to obtain a Temporary Permit for the vehicle. If you don’t own it, you’ll have to get a notarized letter from the legal owner (Bank, lending institution, etc) allowing you to take it into MX. You’ll have to post a bond, usually with a credit card.
Place your permit inside dash near the rearview mirror.
