I live in Dallas, and traveled to Monterrey a couple of times by Bus..it took about 9 hours. It was ok..We went to the zoo, which was a big mistake because we went during the summer and it was too hot that the animal’s were kept inside…umm…we also visited the museums , churches. The only bad thing is that the food made me real sick..not sure what it was but I would be careful with what you eat and drink. Try to order drinks with no ice and buy bottle water.

I’ve gone to Monterrey by bus from McAllen twice. The ppl there are very nice. I had no problem with bad water. Horsetail Falls is a good point of interest. Also the city square has cool things to see. If you explore the city square, you’ll find underground walkways that lead to the new subway train system. Be sure to take in the Carta Blanca brewery. Also glass blowing.

We have done it several times from SA. Check out the falls, the caverns, tour the glass factory and brewery, Bishops Palace (esp at night), Gran Plaza and cathedral, Antiqua Barrio (for the nightlife) We always stay at Plaza de Oro on Ave Hidalgo. Great hotel, walking distance to alot, very inexpensive for what it is!
